Future Drone Capability
Wohnrade Civil Engineers, Inc. submitted a Section 333 Petition for Exception to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) on Friday, March 27, 2015. The exemption, if approved, will allow the commercial operation of a small Unmanned Aircraft System (sUAS) in the National Airspace System (NAS).
We propose to employ the Inspire 1 drone, manufactured by DJI, for site reconnaissance, topographic survey, aerial photography (including video), and as a resource for a variety of engineering studies. The Pilot in Command (PIC) of the sUAS will be Mary B. Wohnrade, P.E., who received her private pilot’s license for single-engine land aircraft in June 1983.
At some point in the very near future, we anticipate providing commercial operations for hire. All operations will comply with the Operational Limitations outlined in the FAA’s Proposed Rules, dated February 23, 2015, and all necessary liability insurance will be obtained prior to commencing operations. Our ultimate goal will be to maintain our reputation for providing experienced professional services, which comply with FAA regulations, and are performed in a safe manner.
